We’re Here to Answer Your Questions About
Sperm Freezing

Sperm freezing, also known as cryopreservation, is a procedure that allows sperm to be stored to preserve their quality and later used in assisted reproduction or artificial insemination treatments.

With proper storage, as we ensure at HOPE IVF, sperm can be preserved for decades without losing their fertilizing capacity.

The sperm are thawed at the time of the procedure and used in artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), depending on the treatment recommended by the specialist.

Treatments with frozen sperm are just as successful as those using fresh sperm.

No. In most cases, sperm is collected through a semen sample obtained by masturbation in a private, comfortable setting. In special cases, direct extraction from the testicle or epididymis may be required under local anesthesia.

A semen analysis is performed to evaluate sperm count, motility, and morphology, along with tests to rule out infections such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, or other sexually transmitted diseases.
